Advanced manufacturing is the combination of talent, automation, innovation and process management to competitively produce high-quality products with added value and reduced time to market. Missouri is a center for advanced manufacturing excellence, supported by a cost-competitive, pro-business and innovative environment with exceptional talent, extensive training programs, access to raw materials and a globally connected infrastructure.

Missouri is a world leader in aerospace and automotive manufacturing and exports $7.2 billion in advanced manufacturing products to more than 190 countries and growing every year.

The U.S. is the world’s largest aerospace producer, and Missouri is a strong contributor with a rich history in aviation, especially military aviation. From Charles Lindbergh to the Mercury space program, to the latest in aerospace innovation by Boeing, Missouri has led the way in every aspect of aviation for nearly 100 years.

Advanced Manufacturing in the Automotive Industry

Today, more than 14,000 of Missouri’s highly trained workforce builds F/A-18, EA-18, F-15 and T-X Trainer fighter jets, along with the new unmanned MQ-25 refueling drone, at Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security facilities, along with a huge array of military ordinance.

Across the state, Missouri talent drives automotive manufacturing into the future with significant production from Ford and GM. Missouri’s automotive manufacturing plants are strategically located on the North American Automotive Alley that stretches from Toronto to Mexico City, and Missouri’s Kansas City area is the second largest automotive trade hub behind Detroit, according to Brookings.

In 2017, Missouri produced more than 756,000 vehicles at the Ford and GM plants, advanced military jets for the US and allied militaries, and much more.

Many businesses will find there are immense opportunities to locate facilities in Missouri or do business development with very capable aerospace and automotive suppliers and OEMs. The natural action is to contact our team of trade and investment specialists.

Missourians are innovators! We scratched our heads and came up with the idea of walking those businesses straight to available opportunities in our State. We saw no better solution than a matchmaking event focusing on advanced manufacturing technologies for both aerospace and automotive.

We needed a partner whose expertise in running matchmaking events and records are impeccable. Advanced Business Events was an obvious choice. They have experience in putting together world class events such as the Aerospace & Defense Suppliers Summit in Seattle, the Aeromart series in Toulouse and Montreal and many others.

This is how the Aero & Auto Advanced Suppliers Summit was born. We ran the idea by the Boeing Company and Magna and garnered their official endorsements because this idea of gathering suppliers in one place makes sense to them.

The Aero & Auto Advanced Suppliers Summit takes place on October 8 - 10 in St Louis, Missouri. The event will feature a series of technical presentations on the first day. Speakers from Boeing and Magna are expected.

The second and third days will be exclusively dedicated to pre-arranged meetings totally closed to the public. Visitors will not be accepted. Companies must be vetted and have applications in the aerospace and automotive industries. An important focus will be given to such capabilities as additive manufacturing, computer-aided manufacturing, laser, testing, materials, non-traditional machining and other industry 4.0 topics.
