A Very “Spirited” Video

DP Technology’s IMTS contest video is a playful portrayal of a high-spirited software company.

The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) is holding a contest for exhibitors. They are invited to submit a one-minute video created to convince attendees to visit their booth at the show (September 13-18 at McCormick Place in Chicago).

So far, my favorite is “We Are ESPRIT,” the entry submitted by DP Technology, developers of ESPRIT CAM software for programming CNC machine tools. “Esprit” is French for “spirit,” and the theme of the video is that DP Technology has a spirited, high-energy staff backing a highly effective product.

I like the video because the word play in the voice-over is crisp and clever, while the visuals are fast moving, playful and thematically right to the point. Stacy Wiebe, DP’s PR coordinator, told me, “We made it in-house over the course of a couple of weeks, and all of the work was done right here at DP by DP staff.” It looks as if the video was made in the same “spirit” that the video is trying to convey. It must have been fun.
