ERP: Rent the Software Instead of Buying It

Software-as-a-service, or SaaS, is a term that might be unfamiliar, but millions of people make use of it every day. Facebook is an example of a SaaS application, because the software required to use this application does not reside on the user’s own computer—it exists somewhere else. “Cloud computing” is a related term.

The same software model potentially makes sense in many business applications as well. One of those is ERP.

A die maker recently discovered that, rather than buying seats of ERP software, paying for the software through a SaaS model is less expensive for this company.
