Hardinge Voumard 1000

The Voumard 1000 universal internal grinding machine, available from Hardinge, offers five CNC-controlled axes with positioning accuracy in the nanometer range. Capable of machining workpieces 300 mm in length and featuring a 300-mm swing, the machine replaces the Voumard 110, 130 and 150 series.

Hydrolin hydrostatic guideways on all axes promote precision and productivity, providing damping, stick-slip-free operation and high rigidity for better workpiece surface quality. The machine’s direct-drive linear motor system, which uses no coupling joints, is said to eliminate backlash while offering improved positioning accuracy, fewer corrections and optimized thermodynamics. The compact hydrostatic spindle turret configuration improves accessibility and allows for a larger spectrum of parts. The machine also features a hydrostatic B axis.

The table turret on the hydrostatic B2 axis can optionally be equipped with a workhead and a rotary C axis with direct measuring system and torque motor. The latter configuration maximizes roundness and precision in the fine adjustment of the cylindricity of the inner diameter during cylindrical grinding, the company says.

The FANUC 31i control is said to improve operator access, speeding programming and retooling. The Blue software, created specifically for Hardinge grinding brands, is available with an object guide for easy operation and short setup times. The Black CAM software is available as an option.
