It might seem like a machine’s travels ought to determine the largest part it can machine, but that’s not the case with this application. As the article describes and the video shows, the combination of a bar feeder and bar puller lets this lathe handle work that is larger than its bed. Thanks to these accessories at either end of the machine, the long workpiece actually passes through the lathe, getting machined as it goes.
