Somewhat ironically, Innovative Machine attributes its ability to switch from job to job on a moment’s notice to a highly uniform production process. The Geneseo, Illinois-based firearm component manufacturer processes nearly 75 percent of its work on similar machines from a single builder, Milltronics. This extensive reliance on one brand with a common control and conversational programming interface speeds and simplifies program generation, equipment maintenance and even training.

This particular strategy might not work for every shop. Nonetheless, Innovative Machine’s experience does speak to the inherent advantages of adhering to standard, interchangeable equipment and processes wherever possible. Learn more.
