The TCL18-style chipbreaker for Tungaloy’s TetraMini-Cut line of grooving inserts is designed to minimize cutting force. The chipbreaker is said to ensure light cutting action as well as good chip control when turning at low feed rates. The insert is coated in AH7025, a nano-multilayer PVD coating with high aluminum content that provides hardness and adhesion to the grade for better process security during grooving operations.
TetraMini-Cut features a compact grooving insert with four cutting edges. According to the company, the security of the insert clamping system contributes to repeatability, accuracy and more predictable tool life. The system’s insert clamping mechanism ensures secure insert retention and high repeatability, the company says, promising machining accuracy and more predictable tool life.
