Varying Degrees of Optimization

June 20, 2017 |

Presented By:

The Varying Degrees of Optimization webinar will introduce several different methods of NC Program optimization. Learn how shops can benefit from Optimization and what the economic impact can be. Optimization can generate faster run times by closely regulating Feed, Speed, Chip Load and Cutting Forces. There is a direct impact to cutting tools which stops them from breaking down as quickly. The end result is a higher quality part that needs less benching and is machined faster.

Primary Topics:
• How increasing air cut feed rates will reduce cycle time
• About Knowledge Based Optimization and how it is used to create more efficient NC Programs
• How Physics Based Optimization closely monitors cutting tool forces during material removal

Presenter: Brad Brannan

Mr. Brannan has been with CGTech as a Technical Support Engineer for VERICUT software since 2005. He has more than 36 years of manufacturing experience. His professional career began at Speedring, later known as Axsys Technologies. He began working as a machinist running CNC Lathes and 4 and 5 axis milling machines. Later, he became a CNC Programmer for a variety of 3 and 4 axis Makino’s, Mitsui Seiki’s and Mori Seiki’s. His last 6 years in industry was as the N/C Programming Manager. In his 24 years at Axsys, his work involved planning and programming on multiple programs such as the Globalstar Satellite, EKV (Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle), Mars Rover, COSTAR (Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement), and the JWST (James Webb Space Telescope). In Mr. Brannan’s role as Technical Support Engineer for CGTech, he designs many general-purpose and customized training courses, supplies technical support to end-user customers, and provides manufacturing consulting services to numerous companies in virtually every industry.
