Overcoming the Challenges of Multi-Task Machine Programming

October 10, 2017 |

Presented By:

The use of Multi-Task Machines (MTMs) offers many benefits, including the reduced set-ups, increased precision and accuracy, and considerably higher throughput—which all result in higher profits for the production shop. MTM, however, does present challenges, ranging from the selection of machine configuration, to matching parts to machine, to programming the parts, and synchronizing turrets and spindles for safety and maximum efficiency. This webinar will address these topics, through discussion of machine configurations and benefits, and demonstration of part programming, toolpath verification and machine tool simulation.

Primary Topics:
• The benefits of using Multi-Task Machines
• Typical MTM machine configurations and the types of parts created on those machines
• The challenges of programming and MTM machines
• The solutions available to overcome the challenges

Presenter Andy Heffner:
As a master tool and die maker in Germany for many years, Andy Heffner leveraged his shop experience into an applications engineer position at for several machine-tool builders, before becoming an independent CNC programming consultant in 1999. Looking for a CAM system that did MTM, Andy was introduced to GibbsCAM, the only MTM product on the market at that time. He joined the company in 2001, and is now an Applications Engineer/MTM Specialist, helping customers implement MTM software and machines.
