Edge Factor-Themed Competition to Highlight Product Lifecycle

The SME Education Foundation and other producers and sponsors of “The Edge Factor” HD series have introduced “Reality Redesigned,” which it bills as “an international student design contest series with a reality show twist.” As much as $40,000 in prizes will be presented live at the SME’s Rapid Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in April.
Presented by the Edge Factor team in collaboration with PinkBike (pinkbike.com, the inaugural Reality Redesigned contest features a mountain biking theme. It challenges students to submit a new design for one of three categories of mountain bike parts: frame, suspension and components. Submissions will undergo a rigorous screening process involving analysis and critique by industry experts. Top drawings will be tracked as the judges critique them via an ever-present POV camera that will capture the process form beginning to end. This provides the audience with an opportunity to see an idea go from drawing board to finished product.
In March, the audience can vote for their favorite design from among the top three submissions in each category. The winner will be awarded a “pimped out” Intense Bike when the vote closes in April.
