The Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association has announced the cancellation of JIMTOF 2020, the 30th international machine tool fair, which had been scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight December 7-12, 2020.

The venue was going to be used by the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and the Main Press Center (MPC) for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Games. With the postponement of those events to 2021, IBC’s usage of the East Exhibition Hall was extended. As a result, the Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association was unable to secure the exhibition halls and exhibitor space as planned. The Olympics were postponed out of caution surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is deeply regrettable for us as organizers, but we sincerely appreciate understanding from all exhibitors who have been preparing for the fair and those who have been cooperating with us,” the association says.
