The low-profile collet chucks in Kitagawa NorthTech’s DKF series feature a compact nose for when additional tool clearance is needed in tight turning environments. Designed with a fixed actuation system, the chucks are engineered for both first and second machining operations on barstock. The DKF is suitable for DC Varibore collet types with gripping ranges from 4 to 65 mm. Using the company’s quick-change collet chuck tool, operators can change out the chuck in as little as 10 sec., the company says.
Mounting bolts and a custom-machined drawtube connector speed installation of the chuck, which mounts directly to the lathe spindle or uses a precision adaptor plate to ensure a consistent mounting without the need for correction. The precise fit is said to minimize the need for adjustment, meaning less machine downtime. All the collet chuck bodies are case hardened, optimizing their rigidity, strength and durability.
