Taiyo Koki, a DMG MORI company, announces the U.S. debut of the CVG-series vertical universal cylindrical grinder with pallet changer. Available in part-swing diameter sizes of 25.5", 37.5" and 53", the machine can grind the outer diameter, inner diameter and faces in one part chucking with machine roundness accuracy of better than 0.00004".

Twin opposing wheel spindles come standard. The larger, heavy-duty spindle is dedicated to OD grinding, using a 14"-diameter wheel. The other spindle is used primarily for ID grinding, and both grinding spindles are high-frequency systems capable of face grinding. Each CVG machine comes with a six-station automatic toolchanger (ATC) that uses the highly rigid HSK-E100 quill clamping system. The number of stored and qualified wheels reduces setup time for complex grinding.

Users load and unload grinding wheels through the ergonomically-positioned door in the side of the enclosure, snapping them in or out. Standard features include a FANUC F31iB control with GriPS conversational software, twin opposing grinding spindles with tree-position turret, liquid-cooled grinding spindles, and gap elimination. It also features a coolant system with integrated chiller and magnetic separator, an X-axis scale, a hydraulic swing-up dresser, and a T-slot work table.

The optional pallet changer improves productivity by significantly reducing spindle run time. An available part-clocking station with dummy spindle can be added, enabling parts to be rotated and clocked-in at the part loading station. Another optional feature is a high-precision measuring probe that can precisely measure ODs, IDs and faces in cycle.

The CVG is compatible with both conventional and superabrasive grinding wheels. A rotary disk dresser with acoustic sensor is available as an option, enabling the dressing of vitrified cBN or diamond wheels. The direct-drive rotary dresser unit mounts to the hydraulic swing-up dresser.
