Improved Stainless Steel Grades

Outokumpu offers several grades of stainless steel for precision machining, including Prodec, 303 HSTTM and lean duplex LDX 2101. Prodec is designed for applications with corrosion requirements and a high degree of machining. It is offered in 303, 304/304L, and 316/316L in bar and plate forms. The Prodec grade is designed for uniform consistency, better run times, more controlled chipping, longer tool life and improved surface quality, the company says.

Outokumpu also offers its 303 HSTTM, which is a Prodec-treated stainless bar engineered to optimize performance in high speed steel tooling. With a finely tuned alloy composition and a duplex microstructure, LDX 2101 has high mechanical strength and improved machining properties, the company says.
