Additive Industries has confirmed that its MetalFab1 industrial additive manufacturing system, designed for fabrication use on the factory floor, will launch in the fourth quarter of 2015. The 3D metal printer’s design and continuous calibration strategy contribute to high reproducibility. Multiple process steps are incorporated in the machine for an integrated process flow. Fully automated handling connects all process steps, reduces manual labor, and improves product consistency and quality, while also increasing operator safety. A modular architecture offers flexibility and enables the user to start with a basic machine configuration and enlarge the scope of the process later. Modules can be added to enable the use of multiple materials in one machine without risk of cross-contamination, the company says.
