Albrecht’s precision drill chucks, available from Royal Products, are designed to ensure precise hole sizing and extend drill life. These keyless chucks are said to grip tighter the harder they’re used, with the jaws maintaining position parallel to centerline, providing uniform gripping force. The diamond-impregnated jaws eliminate drill slippage and jaw damage that can occur when using carbide or hardened-shank drills. Each of a given chuck’s more than 20 components is air-gage qualified during manufacturing. Further promoting chuck quality, each chuck is checked with four to six diameter-test pins at two locations on each pin during assembly.

The retention knob is an unmistakably critical component of the machining process. However, the tightening of the knob itself can lead to the toolholder not seating securely in the machine. You may be losing tool life to knob tightness without even knowing it.
