Ibag North America’s micro collet system is designed to improve accuracies for precision milling and ultra-small drilling applications, such as in medical and other micro-manufacturing industries. The collet system is equipped for use with 22-, 25- and 33-mm spindles in the company’s Micro Line, including backworking and right-angle models. The collets deliver accuracies of 1 micron TIR at the nose and can accommodate tool diameters ranging to 1/8". Spindle speeds as fast as 90,000 rpm are possible, reducing cycle time and boosting productivity, the company says.

  • The Knob Problem

The retention knob is an unmistakably critical component of the machining process. However, the tightening of the knob itself can lead to the toolholder not seating securely in the machine. You may be losing tool life to knob tightness without even knowing it.

  • Don’t Forget The Drawbar

The force that holds the toolholder in the machining center's spindle can weaken over time. If you haven't checked drawbar force in a while, this may be the weak link in your process.

  • Why Use Hydraulic Toolholders

The book on hydraulic toolholders is that they are fussy to set, fragile to operate and expensive to buy. So why do many shops choose them over other holders that seem less demanding? This Chicago mold builder has good reasons for its choice.
