Modular Robotic Package Integrates with Turning Centers

In partnership with UltraTech Machinery, Emco Maier is offering its Factory Automation Solution, a modular, robot-based loading and unloading package designed for use with the company’s turning machines. The plug-and-play system features an integrated FANUC M-20iA robot with a 20-kg payload within a small footprint. Two gripper models and three mounting configurations are available for end-of-arm tooling based on workpiece geometry and weight.
The robot pulls oriented workpieces from a multi-drawer cabinet that can also be accessed by the operator. The cabinet’s 300-lb-capacity drawers use heavy-duty slides and accommodate workpieces as tall as 6" in a useable area of 18" × 24". A secure workpiece storage and service drawer enables safe access by the operator while the robot uses other drawers.
All equipment is mounted on a common base plate, which is pre-assembled with forklift pockets, a drip pan and a walk-on grating to protect robot cables and wiring. A universal base is available along with left- and right-hand versions configurable to the machine model.
