Oelheld’s SintoGrind HSS-X 1400 grinding fluid is said to fill a gap in the market for high-performance fluids for high speed steel (HSS) applications. The oil is formulated with modern gas-to-liquid (GTL) base oils. GTL oils do not display the negatives of mineral-oil-derived base oils, while also providing longer service life and higher temperature tolerance, the company says. SintoGrind HSS-X 1400 is suitable for flute, thread, profile, internal and external cylindrical grinding of steel materials such as HSS, PM and medical steels. The low-foaming, low-misting fluid is said to prevent surface burning and inhibit burr development. It also offers high filterability.
