R&P Metrology’s RPG PM 750/1250 portable gear metrology machine, available from Kapp Technologies, is able to check spur and helical gears of virtually any size. The three-axis CNC system uses air bearing and linear motor technologies. The machine's portability enables the measurement of larger gears on production machines that may not have onboard gear inspection, and one unit can conduct independent gear inspection on many machines in a plant. For added flexibility, a docking station with base plate and rotary table is also available, transforming the portable machine into a standalone, four-axis, generative gear inspection machine capable of 3D prismatic measurement.
