Met-L-Flo offers prototype rotational molding (PRM), a rapid prototyping service. Rotational molding is a production process for making hollow parts. The process produces non-symmetrical parts, such as automotive ductwork, automotive reservoirs, insulated products, yard furniture and toys, in a variety of sizes. With advancements in urethane formulations, PRM simulates production-grade material so closely that prototype parts are sometimes used for low-volume production, the company says.
In addition to rotational molding, PRM is suited for hollow parts made in the blow molding industry such as bottles, hollow containers, toolboxes and marine accessories. According to the company, PRM technology saves both time and money on tooling and tooling revisions before production begins.
