Kalamazoo Machine Tool’s KS450 model semi-automatic band saw is designed for heavy-duty production sawing with a freestanding operator console. The frame is canted 5 degrees to cut through the bottom of structural sections while avoiding vibration and resisting slow-down of the sawing rate. The saw’s variable-speed blade provides speeds ranging from 60 to 360 fpm. According to the company, it is capable of sawing solids and structural shapes ranging to 14" at 90 degrees in full-cycle, semi-automatic operation. The saw can also double-miter 60 degrees to either left or right. During operation, the saw frame automatically senses the material size, the vise clamps, and the saw makes the cut at the preset rate. Then, the saw automatically clears and the vise opens to remove the workpiece.
