Software Provides Specialized Five-Axis Features
GibbsCAM 2013 provides features designed to simplify programming and improve five-axis milling in specialized applications.
GibbsCAM 2013 provides features designed to simplify programming and improve five-axis milling in specialized applications. The updated software includes two new five-axis MultiBlade options to simplify programming and machining bladed turbomachinery components such as impellers, blisks and blings. Specialized functions for roughing, blade finishing and hub finishing provide automatic tilting and linking and enable full control of leading and trailing edges. The options are said to improve surface finishes while reducing programming and machining time.
The five-axis porting option generates more efficient tool paths for machining hollow parts with significantly different shapes or sizes at each open end, or that have significant curvature
from one end to the other. Applications include engine intake and exhaust ports, combustion chambers, manifolds, and throttle bodies.
Additional updates include improved support for Swiss-style machining, a mill feature, surface-flow strategy, profiler modes, drilling and thread-milling patterns, lathe threading, thread whirling, and lathe plunge roughing.
