GE Intelligent Platforms offers the Proficy Machine Edition 6.5, a universal development environment for HMI, motion and control applications that share a single workspace and tool set. Coupled with an efficient, user-friendly structure and standardized user interface, the software is designed to speed time-to-solution for the entire project lifecycle. From configuring and developing to commissioning and maintaining, it is said to improve the overall engineering efficiency of application development.
The software can import and export control logic in XML. This enables users to maintain control strategies in standardized XML format and selectively import logic blocks to create a complete automation project. In addition, this capability enables the software to interface with external programming and design tools that are capable of generating control codes in XML. Users can choose to design their system using a third-party development tool and import the generated XML logic.
According to the company, other features include a local, historical trending tool facility on the QuickPanel for quick diagnostics and troubleshooting; enhanced Web publishing capabilities and remote connectivity; a user-friendly tool for updating project files on remote QuickPanels; a Data Logger window tool on the PC platform for quick trending analysis and troubleshooting; and optimized controller communications to improve overall performance. The software is suitable for OEMs that produce similar machines or skids in high quantity.
