The Gi-720 sorting machine from General Inspection features a conveyor-belt style with an eight-camera sensor system. The machine is primarily used for sorting parts that are similar to small screws, bolts or rivets at a rate of 1,000 parts per minute.

Sixteen images (eight frontlit and eight backlit) from eight cameras enable measuring of all dimensions to find visual defects. Frontlit lighting detects surface imperfections such as scratches, gouges, flakes, burrs, smears, discoloration, chips, cracks, dents or laminations. Backlit lighting provides measurement of dimensional characteristics and suits measurement of radii, concentricity, straightness, head space and length, thread parameters, lengths, tapers, etc.

The machine can be used to inspect the entirety of production to support lean manufacturing practices.
