VMC for Precision Die/Mold Applications
The NXV 1020AM vertical machining center from YCM Americas is designed for die and mold machining applications.
The NXV 1020AM vertical machining center from YCM Americas is designed for die and mold machining applications. X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 40" × 20" × 21" to accommodate larger die mold requirements. Oversized linear guideways help to ensure balance between machining rigidity and accuracy. Specialized P12 pitch ballscrews and a structural design optimized for vibration damping promote cutting accuracy.
The machine is equipped with a 20-hp, low-vibration IDD spindle offering speeds ranging to 15,000 rpm. The dual-face contact, 40-taper spindle is said to provide cutting rigidity with minimal spindle growth and vibration. A spindle cooling system with oil-air mist lubrication to the main bearings helps to extend spindle and machine life at high speed operations. The VMC also features a high-speed, 24-station double-arm-type automatic toolchanger. A 30-station ATC is available as an option.
The VMC is equipped with a FANUC MXP-200FA (OiMD) YCM-enhanced CNC and I-Operation Plus II software designed by YCM. The M-300 high-performance machining mode enables machining efficiency for roughing operations and optimal accuracy for finishing operations, the company says.
