Wire EDM Machines 3D-Printed Workpieces
IMTS 2018: The VL600QH wire EDM from Sodick is designed to meet the needs of the growing 3D Printing market.
The VL600QH wire EDM from Sodick is designed to meet the needs of the growing 3D-printing market. The machine provides a high Z-axis capacity without the costly features of larger machines. It is designed to enable AM post-processing while maintaining reliability. Its Z-axis height measures 19.7" and its XY-axis travels measure 24" × 17", making it capable of machining most additive workpieces.
By systemizing die making into repeatable steps, Dies Plus, a division of Otto Engineering, is using its machinists to effectively make dies. This solution relies on a paperless color-coding system to convey the tolerances machinists need to hit in order for tool and die makers to do the final fitting.
Additives, machine settings, workpiece materials and current technology are factors in avoiding common problems with unwanted rust and surface defects.
Voice interface technology has come of age and is now found on a wide variety of products such as phones, tablets, PCs, TV remotes and many other devices. Why not on machine tools as well?
