Mitutoyo’s MiStar 555 CNC shopfloor coordinate measuring machine (CMM) operates without compressed air and on conventional 120-V, 20-A electrical service. It achieves speeds of 606 mm/sec. and acceleration of 2,695 mm/sec.² (3D). The compact in-line or near-line CMM is designed for fast and accurate measurement, with accuracy assurance at temperatures ranging from 10°C to 40°C. It features an open-structure design with a single-support moving bridge enabling users to mount workpieces from the front, rear and right sides. A walk-up inspection station is said to ease operability.

The modular control unit and PC are stored in the base of the main body structure, reducing the installation area compared to a conventional moving-bridge model. The MiStar is also equipped with a robust detection system with a high resistance to airborne contaminants, eliminating the need for environmentally controlled enclosures.

The MiStar features the Mitutoyo Smart Measuring System, which enables monitoring of the operation state required by so-called smart factories and a Status Monitor that retrieves current CMM status features using the MTConnect protocol. Condition Monitor collects and evaluates different operational information such as measuring, movement lengths, machine error and probe functions for long-term preventive maintenance and machine use statistics.
