Turbine Blades in Record Time
ABB Turbo Systems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of turbo chargers for gas and diesel engines. One technology they specialize in is turbo chargers for vehicles such as gigantic container ships and huge ferries – boosting the power of their massive engines with reduced fuel consumption and lower pollutant emissions.
ABB recently brought two Liechti Turbomill machining centers online to enable them to machine high-performance turbine blades to precise tolerances, while increasing productivity and process reliability. The Liechti machining centers are delivering these increases, mainly due to the high computing performance of Bosch Rexroth’s IndraMotion MTX CNC system.
The MTX system provides a high-performance CNC platform controlling five axes that works directly, without any approximation on critical parts, and allows the integration of multiple production steps into one to deliver perfect flow pattern in every turbine blade.
Read the complete story about how IndraMotion MTX gives ABB Turbo Systems… a turbo boost in machining quality and productivity.
