Designed for use with Schunk's Vero-S quick-change pallet system, the Vero-S SPM plus 138 diaphragm clamping module is machinable to accommodate the contour of a specific workpiece. When engaged with the turbo function, the module clamps evenly around the outside of the part. Though the workpiece need not be round, the module can clamp pieces ranging from 36 to 125 mm in diameter with clamping forces ranging to 50 kN.
Using clamping pins, the module is compatible with Vero-S top plates, pallets, clamping stations, tombstones or existing features, and the pins function universally across the line. The radial-aligned clamping slides of the quick-change pallet system pull in the clamping pin and lock it, retracting the diaphragm's top plate to hold the workpiece. With a repeat accuracy of at least 5 microns, the system promotes accuracy in transferring workpieces from machine to machine.
All the functional components of the Vero-S SPM plus 138 diaphragm clamping module are constructed of hardened stainless steel, including the base body, clamping pins and clamping slides, increasing the module's life and reliability. The components are sealed and protected against the penetration of chips, dust and coolant, reducing maintenance. The module also features an air purge connection, which can also be used for part recognition and monitoring of the clamping slide. The inclusion of bottom and lateral air connections keeps the module's mounting flexible.
