On September 14, machine tool builder Haas Automation (Oxnard, California) will host a “Multi-Tasking Turning Center” Demo Day at more than 40 Haas Factory Outlets (HFOs) throughout the United States and Canada.
The 18th iteration of this event will feature the new ST and DS series turning centers with Y-axis and dual-spindle capability. The former models provide 4 inches of Y-axis travel (±2 inches from the center-line) for off-center milling, drilling and tapping. They include high-torque live tooling and a servo-driven C axis for fourth-axis capability. The latter models provide the ability to turn both ends of a part in a single setup to minimize handling, increase throughput and reduce work in process. The opposed spindles support fully synchronized turning and on-the-fly part pass-off, while Y- and C-axis capability as well as live tooling enables “done-in-one” machining, the company says. Both lines are available in standard and Super Speed configurations.
In addition to live machine demonstrations, each local HFO will host educational seminars on the latest trends for boosting output and profits. The company’s application engineers will be on-hand to consult with attendees, as will representatives from major tooling, workholding and CAD/CAM manufacturers.
