Carmex has expanded its CMT line of toolholders and inserts for vertical thread milling with two new inserts: the C10 and the C25, measuring 10 and 25 mm in diameter, respectively. The inserts are equipped with multi- and spiral flutes and are available in a variety of thread forms and groove widths. They are said to deliver shorter machining times, lower cutting pressure and smooth cutting operation.
Editor PickCan Additive Manufacturing Increase Milling Feed Rates?
With PCD tooling, yes it can. The diamond cutting edges demand a large number flutes to realize their full effectiveness. Traditional methods for making cutter bodies limit the number of flutes, but 3D printing is delivering tools with higher flute density and other enhancements as well.
