Handheld Analyzers Enable Rapid Alloy Verification
New members of the company’s Niton handheld XRF analyzers are available, including the Niton XL2 GOLDD series and the Niton XL3t GOLDD+ series.
New members of the company’s Niton handheld XRF analyzers are available, including the Niton XL2 GOLDD series and the Niton XL3t GOLDD+ series. Using handheld x-ray fluorescence technology, these analyzers provide accurate grade identification and alloy chemistry in seconds. The company’s geometrically optimized large area drift detector (GOLDD) technology is said to deliver faster measurement times and lower detection limits (as much as 10-times faster than conventional Si-PIN detectors and up to three-times more precise than conventional smaller silicon drift detectors).
The Niton XL2 GOLDD XRF analyzer has a 45 kV/100 μA x-ray tube and are lightweight yet ruggedly built to withstand severe environments. Customizable menus offer multi-language options and a standard analytical range of more than 30 elements from magnesium to uranium. The Niton XL3t GOLDD+ XRF analyzer has a 50 kV/200 μA x-ray tube and a color, touch-screen display. It is said to deliver lab-quality analysis on almost any alloy. For ultra-low Mg analysis, there is a helium purge option. Plus, this analyzer enables users to identify free-machining stainless steels based on sulfur content. Its integrated CamShot CCD camera comes standard for accurate sample positioning and image capture.
