Walter USA’s TC120, TC121 and TC122 Supreme blind hole taps combine improved performance in steel with increased tool life and process reliability, according to the company. Specifically developed for machining steel, the taps cover tensile strengths ranging from 43 to 200 kpsi.

The TC120 Supreme has a 45-degree helix angle that can produce threads up to 3×DN in soft- and medium-strength steels. Its partial TiN coating in the chamfer section increases wear resistance and tool life, providing special geometry and an extra long threaded section that reduces fracturing in the guide section. It is available with internal cooling capability for improved chip evacuation.

The TC121 Supreme is suitable for threads up to 2.5×DN in steels with medium tensile strengths ranging from 112 to 177 kpsi. It features a 40-degree helix angle, a geometry that facilitates tightly rolled chips and a TiAIN or TiCN coating. It is also available with internal cooling capability for improved chip control.

The TC122 Supreme has a 15-degree helix angle that contributes to increased tool life in medium- to high-strength steel and cast iron materials. It can produce thread depths ranging to 1.5×DN without internal cooling and thread depths ranging to 2.5×DN with internal cooling. It features a special geometry producing extremely short chips, as well as a TiCN coating.
