PRAB’s tramp oil separator removes free-floating and mechanically dispersed tramp oils from coolant and wash water using gravity flow and coalescence. Designed for use with machine sumps, central systems and wash tanks, the separator is said to reduce tramp oils to less than 1 percent in a single pass, helping to prevent clogged filters, avoid machine downtime and decrease tool wear. Additionally, the separator helps to extend the production life of oil-based, semi-synthetic and synthetic coolants as well as alkaline wash water while reducing hazardous waste volumes by as much as 90 percent, the company says. The system enables machine shops to capture, recycle and reuse wash water and coolants that would otherwise be disposed of, helping to save money and protecting machining equipment. The separator also can be equipped with automatic air spargers to remove sludge and solids, coolant managers, customized electric controls and a range of pre-filtration options.
