The Kent USA KVTC-3270 CNC traveling-column vertical machining center provides a large working envelope with X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 126" × 28" × 24" (3,200 × 720 × 620 mm), respectively, while occupying minimal shopfloor space. Featuring a long stationary table, the VMC is well-suited for robotic integration and automation, and is said to be more reliable than a comparable moving-table design. The table can be partitioned into two halves, with one half machining a workpiece while the other is loaded or unloaded, improving overall productivity. The machining center can accommodate applications with long workpieces or complex fixturing requirements, the company says.

Roller-type linear guideways on all three axes provide smooth, precise machining with increased rigidity for longer tool life and improved workpiece finishes. The direct-mounted spindle motor is equipped with a 10,000-rpm, 40-taper spindle and chiller. An automatic toolchanger holds as many as 24 tools. Options include a 50-taper spindle, through-spindle coolant, spindles ranging to 30,000 rpm, and 32- or 40-tool magazines.
