New Strategies for Machining EV Components that Overcome Challenges

April 25, 2023 |

Learn how to implement premium performance methods into your operations that enable burr-free milling and cycle time savings—plus pitfalls to avoid.

The use of aluminum is on the rise for electric vehicle (EV) components, but all too often shop floors face challenges with long overhangs, vibrations and the weight of tooling when machining this difficult material. This is increasingly important as there continues to be a year-over-year rise in the number of aluminum engines being produced—both for conventional and hybrid passenger cars. Clear, practical tooling solutions for EV components are key. Learn how to implement premium performance methods into your operations that enable burr-free milling and cycle time savings—plus pitfalls to avoid.

Find out about the latest tools for machining electric vehicle components from Sandvik Coromant, including advice for optimizing aluminum machining and strategies in your operations to consider. Additionally, you'll gain an inside view of the impact of new component solutions in efforts to increase productivity.

Agenda:

  • Which challenges are impacting shop floors today and the actionable strategies you can apply right away to improve manufacturing of EV components
  • Techniques and tools for milling newly-cast aluminum parts in a single operation without burrs
  • What milling cutter considerations will help increase productivity in your thin-walled aluminum components machining
  • How to achieve cost-effective gasket manufacturing processes
