Darex Celebrates 40 Years
The drill sharpener manufacturer was founded in Illinois in 1973.
Darex (Ashland, Oregon) is celebrating 40 years in business this October. Founded in 1973 in Beecher, Illinois, Darex was created by three generations of the Bernard family: David, his father Richard, and his grandfather Arthur. The D, A and R of Darex correspond to the first initials of the three founders. The company relocated to Ashland, Oregon in 1978, and Matthew Bernard became the fourth-generation family owner in 2008.
Darex is a producer of industrial drill sharpeners as well as other commercial and consumer sharpening products. The company’s brands include Darex industrial sharpeners, Drill Doctor professional and home shop drill bit sharpeners, and Work Sharp knife and tool sharpeners.
