Autor Engineering’s three-axis (X, Z and C) CNC combined slide for multi-spindle machines is a self-contained module that can mount on the cross-slide of most six- and eight-spindle automatics. The unit is not machine dependent, and it quickly provides advanced capabilities to a cam-driven automatic, the company says
Available in North America from SPC Innovations, the unit provides capability for full contouring, single-point OD and ID turning and thread chasing for threading virtually any material, the company says. Several models are available with a maximum range of 40 × 80 mm (0.1.575" × 3.150") in the X and Z axes, respectively. Two different cutting tools can be used for roughing/finishing, left/right or OD/ID operations.
The free-standing, plug-in CNC control uses full G-code programming and provides offsets to correct for indexing errors.
