Wheel Turning Center Improves Surface Finish
The FEMCO model WHL-55SP CNC wheel turning center is designed for high-speed, precision wheel turning applications.
The FEMCO model WHL-55SP CNC wheel turning center is designed for high-speed, precision wheel turning applications. The machine is equipped with a 60-hp FANUC spindle motor that enables speeds ranging to 2,500 rpm. The motor is directly coupled to the spindle, minimizing backlash and vibration. The A2-8 spindle nose accommodates a variety of wheel turning fixtures for maximum versatility. Wheels ranging to 22" in diameter can be machined with precision, the company says.
The turning center’s 45-degree slant bed enables improved chip removal during the machining process. According to the company, the turning center’s rigid boxway construction and precision components ensure consistent high accuracies with good quality surface finishes. A granite headstock helps to better absorb and dampen vibration, further improving surface finish. FANUC CNC controls and servomotors enable fast acceleration and deceleration, improving processing efficiency and shortening program execution time.
The turning center is equipped with a 12-station turret and accommodates turning tools ranging to 1" in diameter and boring bar holders ranging to 2" in diameter. Optional accessories include a chip conveyor, a tool presetter, tool and work probes, and a robot interface for unattended, automatic machining operation.
