Greenleaf’s WG-300, WG-600 and WG-700 whisker-reinforced ceramic inserts are designed for machining high-strength alloy materials and turbine machining operations. The inserts are said to be heat-, wear- and impact-resistant and to provide maximum predictable metal removal rates.

WG-300 is said to increase productivity in machining jet engine components made of heat-resistant, high-strength alloy materials. WG-600 expands the speed envelope of WG-300 with the same feed rates, further increasing productivity. Its whisker-reinforced, coated ceramic is well-suited for applications requiring extended tool life. WG-700 is well-suited for machining hot section materials for jet engines. Featuring an optimized base material and a new, nano-layered coating, this insert is designed to machine super alloys such as Inco 718 at greater feeds and speeds than WG-300 or WG-600, the company says.
