Leaders-In background

NSK America Corp.’s iSpeed5 spindle system is an independent electric motor spindle system in which the main spindle on the machine is locked during operation. Using an independent electric motor spindle provides extremely low vibration, low runout and high speed to optimize the capabilities of the machine for even the smallest tools. The iSpeed5 system is available in two configurations — one offering 60,000 rpm maximum and the other offering 80,000 rpm maximum.

The iSpeed5 system is fully tool-changeable and fits into the tool carousel of most machining centers. Electrical and air interface runs through a stock block that mounts to the face of the machine spindle, keeping it always ready and clear of standard tooling operations.

According to the company, the iSpeed5 system offers lower maintenance costs, flexibility and the capability to use small-diameter tools in machine tools already owned — without impact on machine clearances or current capabilities.
