3D Systems’ GibbsCAM 13 is the latest version of the company’s GibbsCAM CAM programming software.

Improvements in this version include broaching, a G-code editor and the ability to program parts that require elliptical and eccentric turning, such as camshafts. Turning enhancements include control over non-cutting tool movement, automatic chip breaking and bar chamfering.

  • Interpolating Curves

The ability to import complex curves into CNCs promises to let shops finally get beyond old limitations imposed by contouring with linear interpolation. Faster and smoother cutting will be the result.

  • B-Axis Turn/Mills Have Their Place

The additional rotary milling axis on these machines allows them to complete many types of complex parts in a single setup, but these machines have gained a reputation for being difficult to program. Today’s CAM software, however, eases the programming challenge significantly.

  • Programming Multi-Axis Lathes

You're going to need more than the CAM program you're currently using for your standard CNC lathes and mills.
