Emuge-Franken USA has announced a collaborative Machining Technology Event with partners Okuma America Corp. and Open Mind Technologies. The event is scheduled for September 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Okuma North America, located at 11900 Westhall Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina. Manufacturers from industries such as aerospace, medical and mold/die are encouraged to attend.

During the event, a 4140 steel structural housing hinge with a 5" overhang and a large 3/4" hole will be machined under conditions designed to test stress under full forces. The setup will feature the new Emuge-Franken Evogrip modular workholding system, which includes a standard centering vise engineered for precise centric clamping with a holding force of up to 75 kN. The system is designed to provide significant overhang stability.

Live machining will be performed on the five-axis Okuma MU8000V VMC, which supports high-efficiency machining, high-feed roughing and finishing with Emuge Circle Segment end mills. Additionally, advanced Open Mind HyperMill CAM tool paths will be demonstrated, which are designed to increase speed, control and provide smooth finishes.
