Sunnen's PG-700/800 series of bore gages are designed for fast, simple, economical process control in lean manufacturing environments; they are said to combine accuracy with a shop-hardened, all-mechanical design.

The PG series brings reliable ID gaging to the manufacturing floor with no need for electrical or air connections, which reportedly makes them immune to fluctuations in line voltage or air pressure. A single PG gage can measure a wide range of part diameters; Sunnen says the they offer greater versatility at a lower cost than dedicated devices, such as air gages.

The compact, portable gages can be mounted at machining stations. The gage setting fixtures reportedly enable two-minute setup, while eliminating the need and expense for plug gages, jo blocks, master rings or micrometers. The speedometer-type scale is said to provide quick readouts for 100% inspection of machining operations or fast sampling of large vendor lots. Units are available with two different scales to fit the application: .005" range with .00005" increments or .010" range with .0001 increments. Various models are available for gaging IDs from 0.090" to 2.900".  Metric models cover IDs from 2.3 mm – 74.3 mm.

The PG series bore gages can also be used to examine the entire bore for diameter, taper, barrel, bell mouth, out-of-round and lobing. A sliding faceplate with adjustable stops enables end-to-end examination of bores. Stops can be set to allow examination of a particular section of the bore, with accuracy right up to the edge of ports, lands and ends.

Sunnen’s PG series bore gages use an all-mechanical design to promote accuracy, performance and reliability. An exclusive system of floating reeds locks gage fingers at the desired diameter size against drift or lag. In addition, Sunnen says that accuracy is not affected by temperature, moisture, air pressure or vibration. The floating reed system eliminates friction and wear to maintain original repeatability and linearity, no matter the gage's age or amount of use. Sunnen offers a gage leasing program that enables shops to lease the company’s equipment.
