All World Chiller Repair has reached a remarkable milestone this year by servicing its 5,000th unit. This achievement is a testament to its experience, expertise, and timely service. Created in 1999, All World’s Chiller Repair department is the only dedicated full-service machine tool chiller repair operation in the U.S. Units have shipped as far as Europe and the Middle East, and the Roscoe operation supports All World’s site in Mexico.

A Process With Options
No matter the condition of the unit, the team at All World has likely encountered it before and can quickly and affordably restore it to like-new condition or find a cost-effective replacement. When a chiller shows signs of malfunction, All World begins with a remote diagnosis. If the issue can't be identified over the phone, the unit is sent in for a detailed examination. Certified technicians meticulously inspect every part of the chiller to pinpoint required repairs.
Once the diagnosis is complete, customers have two options: repair the chiller or purchase a new unit from All World, which includes ongoing technical support. If customers choose to repair, All World's dedicated team works diligently to restore the chiller to optimal performance. After a thorough cleaning, the team conducts a field simulation test to ensure the unit functions at optimal performance. Typically, a repair costs about half to a third of the price of a new chiller.
All World Lead Chiller Technician John Powell installs a new compressor on the chiller unit. Since faulty compressors are a common cause of chiller malfunctions, All World ensures a broad inventory of compressors is always available.
However, sometimes repair costs might justify purchasing a new chiller, especially if it is significantly aged or inoperable. When a new model is chosen, All World offers Daikin chillers, which provide several benefits, such as precise temperature control, enhanced machine performance, and energy efficiency. They also operate more quietly and typically cost 25% less than competitors' units. All World also stocks a wide range of parts for various models, ensuring faster repairs when needed.
“A lot of times with non-Daikin chillers, you have to wait weeks or months for parts to come in, and you are at the mercy of other vendors who don’t care as much about customer service,” Powell added.
Daikin chillers can be attached to almost any machine tool. All World technicians have successfully converted thousands of off-brand chillers to Daikin, ensuring seamless integration and improved performance.
Specialized Skills
With over 50 years of combined experience, All World’s chiller repair technicians are among the best in North America. As the only service dedicated exclusively to machine tool chiller repair, it sets All World apart in the market.
When a chiller malfunctions, it's often sent to an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). This process not only leads to long wait times but also high costs. Alternatively, customers contact a local HVAC company, which carries its risks. While it’s convenient to get an HVAC technician on site right away, most HVAC companies specialize in commercial and residential heating and cooling, not machine tool chillers that have unique pressure requirements.
Chillers rely on precise refrigerant levels for optimal performance. Too much refrigerant can damage the compressor, preventing it from pumping correctly, while too little can cause overheating and burnout. While there are labels indicating the correct pressure levels, they could be covered when the chiller is mounted inside the machine.
Powell mentioned that the department often receives units with two to three times the necessary refrigerant.
"Once, a customer called me on speakerphone with their HVAC technician. After hearing the pressure readings, I immediately knew the unit was overcharged and damaged,” he added.
Knowledge of Many Models & Brands
All World technicians bring years of experience to the table, working with a variety of chiller brands, including Habor, MAC, Kanto Seiki, Panasonic, Matsushita, Kouwa, BKW, and Ritter Bader. While many manufacturers start modifying parts every ten years, All World technicians can typically repair chillers up to 15 years old by adapting new parts. If there are no electronic components like PC boards involved, they can fix it.
A Chiller Repair technician from All World inspects a chiller’s electrical systems, which contain the contactors, overloads, and PC boards, all critical to its function. The All World team meticulously inspects and cleans every part of a chiller, making repairs whenever necessary to ensure optimal performance.
Even when replacement parts aren't from the original manufacturer, technicians ensure compatibility. For example, if a chiller requires more than one pump, technicians will create custom brackets to support the additional pump.
"We weld steel pieces to fit the bracket, then paint them to look as nice as possible. Our goal is to make it seem like it's always been there and doesn't look replaced," Powell said.
If a compressor from a different brand has a different size, they'll modify the mounting feet and copper piping to fit perfectly.
While HVAC technicians might attempt similar repairs, they often can't obtain parts as quickly or may only replace the compressor without addressing other components, such as the contactor and overload.
“Often, they replace only the broken part. We make sure everything is brand new, so you don’t have an old part controlling a new part. Plus, we have the parts here and in stock,” Powell said.
Any repair includes a 1-year warranty on parts and labor. Depending on environment and usage, a chiller repaired by All World can last up to 15 years or more.
Speed
The All World team inspects, cleans, and repairs every component of a chiller within 6 days on average, ensuring longevity, performance, precision, and safety. They maintain an extensive inventory of common spare parts, ready for any necessary replacements.
Chiller repair technicians specialize in maintaining and repairing the refrigeration systems within industrial chillers. These systems rely on precise refrigerant levels to operate efficiently, making it crucial to hire skilled and experienced professionals.
While it might be tempting to call an HVAC technician who can arrive on-site right away, the process isn’t always as quick as expected. Even if the technician can repair the chiller, they might not have the needed parts on hand. In many cases, these chillers end up at All World when technicians can't resolve the issues on-site.
Occasionally, Powell said, All World technicians will perform basic repairs at a customer's location. However, significant fixes require the chiller to be brought to their Roscoe shop. For customers outside the local area, All World sometimes sends a field service technician to pick up the chiller and transport it back for repairs.
Ongoing Chiller Support
Whether you need a repair or are purchasing new equipment, All World offers ongoing technical support. Many customers send their chillers to our repair department while servicing their machine tools to ensure everything operates smoothly and to prevent future downtime.
"When we fix a chiller and it leaves here, we are confident it's working perfectly. All the customer needs to do is hook it up and turn it on. If it's not right, it doesn't leave the building," Powell said.
