Calling All Machining Experts
Modern Machine Shop is looking for presenters to speak about a range of topics at the inaugural Top Shops Conference this September.
We’re currently on the seventh edition of our annual Top Shops benchmarking survey. In fact, this year’s survey is still live and can be accessed here. As a natural extension of this program, we’re putting together a Top Shops Conference to be held September 5-7 at the JW Marriot in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The presenters we’re currently putting together for this conference will cover a range of topics related to practical machining- and business-related practices that can be immediately implemented in your operation. That said, we’ve also put out a call for papers if you feel you can offer expertise in topics including:
•Advanced machining technology
•Business and marketing strategy
•Robots and automation
If you’d like to be considered to present at our conference, click here and give us an idea as to what you feel you could contribute.

A database guru combined off-the-shelf technology with an elaborate proprietary shop management software to drive efficiency throughout all areas of a machine shop.
This shop doesn’t emphasize lights-out production so much as leveraging automation while the lights are still on. One key to this is a wage and compensation plan that rewards employees for maximizing automation’s impact.
