If you haven't visited MMS Online recently, or if you've not yet had the chance to visit us online at all, there are some online features that might interest you.

We have retooled the Zones on MMS Online so that they share a similar look, feel and format. Normally, anyone changing the colors on a Web site is no big deal; it happens on the Web every day. But we feel this change deserves some mention, since it can give you a familiarity throughout your next visit to the site and your favorite MMS Zones.

For the record, Zones on MMS Online tailor all of the features and information of our site down to a particular topic. The goal is to allow you to avoid searching through the vastness of MMS Online (although doing so can be interesting), and allow you to drill directly down to articles, suppliers, products and other features that matter to you. There are currently Zones on MMS Online for Cutting Tools, Software, EDM and High Speed Machining. More Zones are scheduled for launch this year, including those focusing on Workholding and Work Handling and Quality and Measurement. Zones are accessible from our home page (www.mmsonline.com).

The Metalworking Technology Guide is published each year by Modern Machine Shop, and it includes as a cornerstone the most comprehensive directory of metalworking and software suppliers available. But the MTG is much more than a directory. It is also a study of the technologies that define modern metalworking—the applications, the tools, the art of the process. And all of these valuable MTG features are represented year-round on MMS Online. The MMS Suppliers database (www.mmsonline.com/suppliers) is the living database from the MTG. The CAD/CAM and Shop Control Software Selectors in our Software Zone (www.mmsonline.com/software) are up-to-date, online extensions of the MTG's Software Suppliers Spreadsheets. And the technical articles that are the heart of each year's MTG are available in the MMS Online Article Archive (www.mmsonline.com/past). Fact is, much of MMS Online's soul comes directly from, and is inspired by, the MTG. They complement each other. Use both the MTG and MMS Online throughout the year. Together, they are the strongest metalworking resources available today.

Feel free to drop me an e-mail during your next MMS Online visit and let me know how the Zones and MTG are working for you.
