Application Engineer

John Copher comes into 2023 with 37 years of experience in machining. He has spent the last eight years with Sumitomo as an application engineer focusing on turning and drilling. Before joining Sumitomo, John honed his craft as a CNC operator and developed into setup and programing CNC mills and lathes.

George Schendel

Applications Engineer

George Schendel joined the Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc. engineering department in 2015. He currently serves as an applications engineer, specializing in CBN, PCD and SR reamer applications. Prior to joining Sumitomo, George worked in job shop and mid-sized contract manufacturing environments. In addition to being a journeyman mold maker, George held the position of senior design and process engineer for a small arms manufacturer serving the military, defense and commercial markets.
