The first EMTE-EASTPO 2014 trade show concluded successfully July 17 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Over four days, some 650 international manufacturers from 24 countries displayed products to buyers at the inaugural show organized jointly by Brussels, Belgium-based CECIMO (European Association of the Machine Tool Industries) and Shanghai EASTPO Culture Development Co. With a total of 47,654 visitors, the majority from China and Southeast Asia as well as contingents from Europe, CECIMO Economic Committee Chairman Dr. Frank Brinken said that he was pleased with the exhibition and its international representation.

Among the eight country pavilions, which included the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan, was Finnish automation company Fastems. "This is the first time Fastems participated in an exhibition in China," said the company's group CEO, Tomas Hedenborg. "It was a rewarding experience for Fastems and we will participate in the next exhibition."

The exhibition also hosted several knowledge-sharing activities and technical seminars at the July 15 EMTE-EASTPO CEO Summit. Some 100 participants attended a keynote presentation by Dr. Fritz Klocke of RWTH Aachen University (Aachen, Germany) as well as other seminars and networking events.
